Helping teachers to create their own learning technologies
EduMobile is a mobile app that helps teachers to create their own activities involving mobile learning.
The app shows the summarized results of my dissertation research and each session has its own support materials and challenges to improve teachers classes. This app was designed as a product of my Master's degree dissertation, which subject was educational, technical and usability guidelines for educational mobile apps. It was presented in my dissertation defense and used in university extension courses.
My role in the project was:
Sketches and Wireframes
UI Design & Prototyping
From the research students profile analysis, I've created a user flow diagram to map every step of the user interaction required to achieve the main goal of this app: "As a user, I want to learn about educational apps".
At this phase, I started to create in Adobe XD digital wireframes based on my paper sketches, focused on the main user flow, to learn about educational apps. I then designed the module session, including the information, support materials and challenge area, the onboarding guide and the main menu.
I tried to create a simple and easy to remember name for the app. Then I started a references and inspirations search in the web. I then defined some concepts for the product's brand:
I created some sketches and then started to design some more options in Adobe Illustrator. When I got the final version, I made some improvements to integrate the brand with the UI Concept.
User Interface Concept
Once I had the brand approved by the team, I started designing the final layout in Adobe XD. I followed a corporate light visual style, inspired in social media apps. The main concept for this UI was to complement the business and brand guidelines, designing a trustworthy, serious and user-friendly platform.
I created a prototype in Adobe XD from the UI, to deliver the prototype also allowed our team to test navigation and usability internally, as well as what could be our design language for the components and how layouts should look like
In my Dissertation Defense, I presented my research alongside the app for the evaluation board and public. With a 40 minute presentation, university teachers and students got really surprised to see a product like that from a Master in Education. It was incredible to finish my master's with such distinction.
